I liked it . . . except for the reason for the Efficiency Expert

The acting, the basic story, the sets, and the special effects were all good. The only thing that could have changed a bit to make it a better movie was the reason for the Efficiency Expert, such as who he works for and the reason why he was hired to audit all the mythological characters in our society. Maybe a different reason for the rest of what happens in the movie would have been better. I can't think of one off the top of my head but maybe other people can and list them here.

While I agree this matter was not covered in detail, perhaps there was no point to going into it and alienating the theme. I could just imagine some reasons - Santa may have had to issue stock, or perhaps some large conglomerate made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Please remember, Kevin Spacey frankly mentioned he intended to shutdown the Easter Bunny as well for the same reasons....I thought it was amazingly topical...
