Silent Night in a Santa Claus movie?

Did anyone else think it was really odd that they used Silent Night in the montage where the children are opening up their gifts on Christmas morning? I'm not one of these crazy people who hate religious themed Christmas music, but the meaning of that song does not fit in AT ALL with this movie - and totally did not work in that scene in particular. A song about a virgin mother giving birth to the Christian Messiah? Come on! They could have totally found another song for that scene.

To be honest, the movie wasn't has bad as I thought it was going to be but that was the one thing that really irked me.

Well, Saint Nicholas is recognized as a saint, so I didn't feel the inclusion of "Silent Night" appropriate. However, I do believe the words were watered down a bit.

Have yourselves a Merry Little Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Isn't it sad when Silent Night isn't appropriate for a Christmas movie when Jesus is the reason for the season and Santa Claus is just a made up character that replaced Him in Christmas movies?
