Holiday movies rarely have normal home video release schedules. They almost always come out during the holidays, and if they had a standard video release schedule they would come out on DVD and Blu-Ray around May. Who's running out to buy a Christmas movie in May? If they wait and release the home video the following holiday season, it becomes an easy stocking stuffer and I'm certain sales are significantly higher.

It is a Christmas movie, and that is the normal as explained for Christmas movies to come out a year after they came out in movie theaters, very few Christmas movies are released less in a year on dvd and blu ray then when they were released in movie theaters. In a perfect world a Christmas movie would be released on dvd and blu ray in the same Christmas season then it played in theaters, or even the same day it got released in movie theaters but sadly that is not the case.
