who loved this movie and the last? I went here to see what people thought of the movie, and was suprised.of how few people seemed to like it. theres recast messages, and I hate this movie messages. Was nobody happy with this? and why?' was it because so many people read the comic books and had too high expextesions? but even though, this is far from crappy? please only reply, if you like this movie or have somthing good\smart to say! p.s. is their going to be a 3 movie?
Thanks to this franchise, I added Michael Chiklis to my favorite actor list. I didn't like his language in the mirror trick scene though, nor did I care for Ben's choice of favorite word in the sequel.
Definately would've enjoyed the first one better if the Lord's name hadn't been taken in vain at all. That drove me crazy!
Why did Ben completely change his mind about his transformation, at the end of the first film? I feel he should've adjusted somewhat, but not totally. In the sequel, Ben Grimm doesn't have much to do with his pathos being gone.
Anyone know why Ben's moniker wasn't used at all in the sequel? I found that very strange.
I can understand why some people liked it, and I myself was somewhat entertained. but only by completely supressing all preconsumed ideas about the original characters. The action is fun and the effects good, but the storyline is simple and the characters have absolutely no depth.
Some examples:
1: Jessica Alba as Susan Storm is a complete misscast. She's obviously chosen to adhere with the glossy world of holywood were people are more manekins then humans. She completly lacks the strenght and depth to potrait a girl with the trouble background and hard lived life of Storm. To choose a 25 year old cheerleader type for this role makes no sense.
2: the role of Ben Grim is reduced to a series of slapstick gags based on his "alternative" physics, something wich doesn't really give us an insentive to care abouth the character.
3:Johnny goes trought the exact same development as the last time; fast line careless playboy to "oh" - life is a little serious once again. Except that it's not a development it's just a fast forward from "have fun" to suddenly "oh now I get it".
I know this isn't meant to be an Oscar story, but simple entertainment. But for a movie to be remebered passed the credits you need to care about the characters and their development, and you need to be drawn into the story. This movie is just a nice picture on glossy paper, and completly forgotten shortly after screening, - therfor not a good movie.
But it was fun while it lasted :-).
Ps, good examples of that cartoon based movies can have some depth: Batman dark knight and x-men.
