Any idea as to why it was shelved/postponed, considering the script was already written?

The second FF movie made less than the first so they gave up on any more for some time -

It made more then first. Hate that they rebooted and left the storyline hanging.

First FF made $154 million, $330 million world wide

FF2 made $132 million and $289 million world wide

With the reboot coming, anyone think there's a chance this script could be unearthed? It probably won't share continuity with the previous ones, but why couldn't there be a solo Silver Surfer movie? Fox has to do something with these characters. Or did they loose the Silver Surfer?

Silver Surfer is a hard sell. The sequel made less than the first movie and i'm sure the proposed budget for Silver Surfer was bigger than the FF movies. The main character is CGI. The math just doesn't work.

Seeing what they did with Guardians of the Galaxy, if they made a Silver Surfer movie like that it would be the best thing ever.

GotG went the comedic route with some inspired casting and a great script.

The Silver Surfer is probably too serious and dark for the current MCU. They would also need a kick ass Director to portray him properly as he is difficult to relate to, potentially boring and one-dimensional.

If the Infinity War films are a success, they could pave the way for his big screen adaptation but it's a shame we won't get to see him face off against Thanos!
