As good as new Japanese/Korea new horror wave
I just fell into watching this film one night on Starz. Both my wife and I were stunned. This is like one of those super creepy new Japanese horror stories. I don't want to say more but it makes just the snow alone creepy.
I have actually been stuck in that situation myself, the woods alone at night can freak you out if you live your whole life in the big city. Plus we were on drugs (bad trip).
Great acting. I know the "girl" already has made "Charlie Wilsons War" and has like 9 films in the can, waiting for release. I hope the "guy" does as many films. He had a hard role to play in this movie. He walked the razors edge just perfectly. What makes a low budget film not terrible is great actors and this has a lot of them.
Donovan (the sheriff) was just so perfect. He did a wonderful film called "Trust" costarring with the actress from "Waitress" (may she RIP). So he has been a sort of undiscovered great actor for a long time.
Enjoy this original piece of horror. It is not Rob Zombie, but it still scares you in another way.
