During the snow trapped scenes, I noticed people walking past the car and you can see them while they guy and girl are in the car but that was that - the characters never saw them and the movie just went on
Anyone notice that or did I miss something? lol

No, I don't think you missed anything. I think the ghosts were just "there."
Interestingly, one happens past right when Guy dies but Girl doesn't notice.

I think the ghost you are talking about there is the guy. Its a nice touch I think.

I think right after the girl discovers the guy is dead it's his ghost walking by the car because it looks like his corduroy jacket, kind of greenish. Plus he's just died, so it's like his soul has stood up and left his body or something.
shareI think the only time they noticed the ghosts when they were in the car was when the ghosts interacted with them and the only one who did that was the cop.
I loved how the Guy showed up outside of the car when he died. To me, that illustrated that he wasn't a ghost prior to that point, which disproves some people's theories about him being a ghost the whole time.
i saw it too and waited for some kind of connection with the boy and girl in the car..it made me uneasy, as did the sudden flashes back into the car which remained unexplained (like when the boy swung the crowbar at the state trooper, then suddenly they were back in the car),.but i guess we're suppose to assume this person passing by the window was just another one of those 'stranded' on that highway...
the two things i liked about this movie was Clint Mansell's music and the movie's visual style..having been in the snow any number of times, this looked real - especially the lighting at different times of the day and night(looks even more spectacular in HD)...
