The young man "Guy" in the film strikes me as a simple garden variety stalker. He's definitely twisted and capable of harming the "Girl", possibly up to the point of killing her,, and keeping parts. The car fits his personality, although his name in the film sounds "wealthy" or "social register". There are thousands like him ll over the country.

He likes her but is too insecure to just try and get to know her.. He uses his intelligence and comes up with this AWSOME idea. I mean this guy really put some effort into it. Too bad he got caught.. However, it was not going anywhere even before that.
His lack of charm is to be blamed for that. Ooops, getting off tracked. What I wanted to point out is this is your average guy with insecurity issues that does not understand woman. He did kind of get it when he told her-should have just said hi to you in class-.
Woman are a mystery to most guys, that is a fact!
