why not just wait in the car till dawn comes?

i liked the movie but i thought it was completely retarded to risk going out for a stupid phone, especially after spending so many hours in the car (and therefore being close to dawn)

and all the clocks had stopped and she didn't know what time it was...although one would assume that the radio would have announced it from time to time or her cell would have had a clock on it
