Why is there no license tag on the car and what is the significance of the missing tag?
shareThe tag is on the front of the car, but not on the back. I'm not sure of the significance and wondered the same myself.

Noticed that too straight away. Don't know what the significance was but I'm sure there was something.
Another error was the cop's car. The story said the cop died in an accident in 1953. But the car was a 1959 Ford.
Small stuff. Good movie just the same.

this is the only thread that addressed the one question I had, so I'll revive it.
Right from the beginning, there were simply too many oddities about the guy's character and his intentions for me to not try and piece together something.
1- He was driving a beat up "1985 Buick Skylark" with no license plates on it. Surely, even the girl would have noticed this? Perhaps he was so obsessed with her, that he bought a 10 year old $100 rust bucket to drive 6 hours - in a completely non-safe car.
2- They showed other license plates, so was this an oversight by the director? Or was that kid actually a ghost and was stuck in 1995~?
3- he dressed like it could be 1995 - he didn't own a cell phone, and the only phone he did have in his car was a 1995~ plug in the wall one.
4- The diner looked like it could be 1995 - and the bathroom had some writing on the mirror that said 1998 --- sort of weird?
5- I think he dies originally in that car and every year tries the same thing with a new girl, only time continues on and he is stuck (like the cop) in a dated automobile. He's just a hopeless kid who cant get a girlfriend, and he is stuck in a recycling of his own worst outcome.
6- next year it will be some poor girl who needs a ride to rhode island or something - he'll still make his way to route 606

and there is a very rusted plate on front of car when its in gas station but you cant make it out. also why was everything he owned in car if he got kicked out and was going back home or something.
how did he not plan to get her back to school? also the fact route 606 in pa was never assigned as a route i found that interesting
It's an 82 Olds Cutlass sedan with an 85 radio bezel.

shareI bought a 1958 Ford in 1971. You're right. Good looking car but the thing would never start if the temp was below 35F. Wouldn't work for this movie...lol
