Is my thought about this movie story line correct ?

Although this is not the kind of movie that I like, anyway I've watched this movie two times trying to understand it, but still in doubt on my conclusion :).

I thought about the movie something like this :

The old Nemo and the world he lives is an "imagination" of the 9 years old Nemo.
All the stories starts when Nemo's father and mother separated (the train scene) are in the "imagination" of 9 yo Nemo because he didn't choose at all but "see" what life would be If __ Then __ of all the possibilities with the 3 young girls who sit on the bench (either when he choose to live with his mother or his father).

So, the final scene when the old Nemo comeback to live after his death and then walking in reverse laughing ---> it's suppose that the reverse will end back where he's 9 yo at the train station - which (I assume) finally (after "seeing" of all the possibilities) this young Nemo choose to live with his mother ... meet Anna (as his stepfather's daughter and his classmate) ... losing Anna (Anna go to New York) ... meet Anna again but loose her phone number (losing Anna again) and finally meet Anna again at the scene when Nemo sleep on the bench and see Anna standing near the fence ("happy ending").

Am I right about my thought of this movie ?

I'm sorry for my English as I'm not from an English speaking country, but I hope the readers can understand my broken English above.

Thank you.

Wrong, he refuse to choose between mother and father and ran different direction, which led him a life at one point sleeping on the bench and met the girl. The rest is imagination of what could happen if he chose between father or mother. Another word. This 2 hours movie was basically him thinking while running and making decisions. Say 10 seconds.

Well, he actully experienced all the possible paths. There was explanation about dimentions and guess what would be possible if we had more time dimensions. Once it is even shown how he backtracks time - right after accident with bike.
So he lived through all that. He mentions 9 year old boy and his imagination, because he sees it as point from which different paths begin. He sees that point in time as home from which he can go in different directions.

my guess why he is laughing in the end is, because it all happened and it all will be undone because of big crunch, no matter what he chose or did.

He experienced all paths through his imagination. The explanation about the dimensions is also part of his fantasy. Likewise the pre-birth scene with the angel of oblivion and the statement that he can remember the future.

I think, it's legitimate for the audience to accept those explanations both as actual facts or as mere imagination. You can interpret the film in many levels.

Let's say, those different paths didn't happen, but it doesn't mean that they are not real. All of the timelines and the whole story is part of the imagination of a (dontknowhowoldhewas) screenwriter/director genius.

While the film is extremely complex and complicated, it's also very simple: a boy is running after a train, and thinking about the possibilities, as rexzile said. But it's also symbolic. There is no way he could think through all those decisions and outcomes in that short time. But it's not about the train and the railway station but about the choice(s) he has to make. Even the name of the station (Chance) is symbolic. But as I said, the story is still real (and painfully beautiful).

Sorry for my English.
