i mean come on! Your telling me not one person editing this movie realized that her lips were pure black for most of the film? And i know that wasnt just the color of her lips because there were times in thefilm where they were a healthy pink. Please help
shareIt's called lipstick, and it was purple not black. Her lips were only pink during the hospital scenes when she was in garb. Outside of that she was in her own getup and apparently she was reppin' goth to a certain degree.

It's called "individuality."
Besides, being chronically ill can often force you to grow up in a hurry. She seemed mature beyond her years - especially when compared to the shallow, materialistic guy that became her friend.
Oh yes, goths are such "individuals". Just like Avril Lavigne. :)
Anyway, yes, I think since Emily had been close to death most of her young life, she had a sort of gothy edge to her, hence the black clothes and beanie and the dark lipstick.

I did know it was lipstick but I also wondered how old she was supposed to be in this. She looked to young to be wearing make-up. I thought that maybe sense she was dieing her mom just let her do whatever.
shareThe lipstick bothered me too. Even if she was trying to rep goth or express her individuality or just wear makeup, it was kind of unnecessary. Just my opinion.
