Did the Nolan Brothers steal the Tesla Teleportation+Clone+Murder Machine from "Think Like a Dinosaur" (1995) Novelette?

In 1995 there was a Novelette published called "Think Like a Dinosaur". (From Wiki) The story postulates a transportation device supervised by a dinosaur-like race of aliens that can transmit an exact copy of a person's body to distant planets. The original body is disintegrated once reception at the destination is confirmed.

Sounds like the Machine works just the same as the Nolan Brothers Tesla Teleportation Machine.

No. The Prestige was based on the Christopher Priest novel of the same name that was also published in 1995. The fact both those stories were published the same year is interesting, suggesting a possible common source as opposed to one getting the idea from the other. Keep in mind Star Trek was resurging at the time in both television and theater, and that's similar to how there transporters work. In all cases it's like a FAX machine with the original being immediately shredded.
