Emmy nod for 'End of the Whole Mess'?

Anybody agree with me that Ron Livingston and Henry Thomas acted the hell out of their roles in "The End of the Whole Mess"?

I think at the very least, Livingston should get nominated because he was exceptional in this and managed to keep me glued to the set.

I disagree completely. His acting was very technical, he did what he was supposed to on cue, but the subtle layers that truly make a performance brilliant were severely lacking, he had no chemistry with Henry Thomas, as it was all forced with "bow-wow" and cheesy flashbacks and melodramatic music to make us feel a certain way, it's an easy trick to fall into as a viewer.

Good response, as I see your point. I just think in the hands of a lesser actor, this whol thing could have been way less effective.

Tom Berenger was the best so far in my opinion.

I like Tom Berenger a lot, he was so damn good in Sniper, I don't know why he made Sniper 1, 2 and 3 tho!

You mean you don't know why he made 2 and 3.

I also thought he was excellent in that episode. The End of the Whole Mess and Autopsy Room 4 are my favorites.

I couldn't agree more. I think Livingston deserves an Emmy nod, and if they have room, William Hurt deserves one as well for his performance. AND Jeremy Sisto. Fifth Quarter was one case where the story outdid the book.

I didn't think "The End of the Whole Mess" was very good and neither was the acting. I thought "Battleground" was by far the best, and Hurt should get nominated for it.

No doubt about it, William Hurt did a bang-up job in Battleground. He gave an entire performance without dialogue, and he was teriffic. Absolutely. But really, Ron Livingston sold that narrator role, a hard one to pull off, and he's so likeable he really made it a good episode. Not that Henry Thomas wasn't excellent in his role as well.
