i think it was the night flier or a sequel to the night flier,
you know that guy who got crazy about gambling and began to kidnap
kids but he kidnapped the wrong kid?
wasnt that a part of the dreamscapes book

It was. :) "Popsy" is the name of it, I believe.

He wasn't a pedophile he just was in a jam with a mobster.

The name of the story is 'Popsy'. There is a movie of it, it's listed on IMDB.

"Popsy" is a great short story - one of the best in the "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" book but the tone is a bit disturbing and I just felt a bit uncomfortable reading it.

The twist at the end though was really cool and it would make a good tv or movie adaptation but the whole child kidnapping and paedophile thing was a bit sick.

I doubt the tv networks would want to touch the story because of this.
