It did seem, though, that none of them really had very good endings.
really? u thought so? i thought like 4 of them had sh!tty endings but i thought some had good ones...anyway here are mine, and why
1) end of the whole mess (ron livingston is underrated)
2) umneys last case (crap ending, but still good story)
3) autopsy room 4 (very suspensful
4) battleground (will is good in this, and good ending)
5) crouch end (this was alright, it was just kind of lacking something, but i'm not sure what, it just didn't feel complete)
6) hell of a band (story was ok, it was only 5 cuz i liked seeing the rockers)
7) the fifth quarter (not one of king's better stories)
8) the road virus (i thought this was some stupid sh!t, sry to those who liked it)

Well, okay, I thought a few of them had pretty complete and solid endings: Fifth Quarter, Autopsy Room 4; Umney's Last Case was okay. So was End of the Whole Mess. Even Battleground, I suppose, though it's ending just seemed odd.

My list, best to worst:
1. You Know They Got a Hell of a Band (one of my favorite stories, good acting by all, love the ambiguous ending)
2. Battleground (great performance by William Hurt and didn't stray too far from original story)
3. The End of the Whole Mess (good acting by Ron Livingston and very well adapted to the screen)
4. The Fifth Quarter (decent change from the supernatural, horror genre)
5. Crouch End (sufficiently spooky but awfully confusing)
6. Autopsy Room 4 (somebody explain to me how a guy can overact while playing dead)
7. The Road Virus Heads North (biggest disappointment for me because I love the short story but the TV version just didn't hold my attention)
I missed Umney's Last Case so I can't rank it

3) Battleground (NO COMMERCIALS)!
4) The Road Virus Heads North (could have been much better)
5) Autopsy Room Four (inferior in every way to Hitchcock-directed "Breakdown")
6) You Know They Got a Hell of a Band (awesome short story, so/so adaptation)
7) The Fifth Quarter (good Jeremy Sisto performance, but boring and drawn-out)
8) Crouch End (what a disappointing CGI mess)!

1- The End of the Whole Mess (Story was my favorite from the book, I loved the show and how they changed it from writing to film-maker. Neat.)
2- Battleground - Very cool.
3- The Fifth Quarter - A little different from the story, but..
4- Autopsy Room Four
5- Umney's Last Case - This one was okay
6- You Know They Got a Hell of a Band - loved the rockers, haha.
7- Crouch End - Different from the story and pretty dumb.
8- Road Virus Heads North - Thought it was stupid.
