I Like Jim

in some roles; there are a couple of films that I own with him in the lead where I could not imagine anyone else carrying it off. But they are both comedies.

I really can't deal with him in serious roles. Especially one like this, where there is a certain darkness and intensity to the role.

Who else would fit the role better? On the grounds of things like A Stir Of Echoes, I wondered about Kevin Bacon.

Any other suggestions?

Any chance of an answer to the question?

I think he did a great job, but there were some give aways.

The scene where he says,"I rest my case, your honour" and raises the book and walks away from his wife and kid with his trademark stoop reminded me of Jim the comedian

I blame the writing for this one.
Jimmy boy fits this role pretty well for me. After all, he probably is mentally unstable.
