Ridiculing the obsession with 23
I can't understand why so many people have written posts ridiculing the obsession with 23. Of course all numerology is absurd, but it has obsessed people for thousands of years, from Gematria and The Bible Code to the numerology of the Quaran.
There are a surprising number of people with obsessive personalities, which is just as well for many areas of academia and industry. It's hardly surprising that an obsessive person, who finds themselves in job that doesn't challenge them mentally (e.g. an animal control worker, who in the first scene taunts a dog and then apologises to its owner, saying "Sorry, I'm bored.") will find some outlet for their fixation, no matter how arbitrary.
That doesn't make such people a joke. Really, their lives are a tragedy.
