Plot twist VERY similar to 'Shutter Island'!

I know The Number 23 (2007) was released 3 years before Shutter Island (2010) and that Shutter Island was based on a novel by Dennis Lehane, but after watching both films I couldn't help noticing the similarities between the two films! In both films, the protagonists are placed in a story presented to the watchers but that story ain't true, they both are looking for answers in different places hoping to solve their questions, but in the end the persons that they were looking for turn out to be themselves.
Could anyone give more suggestions / titles of films with similar plot and plot twist?

I guess it is similar in ways. The real difference is that Shutter Island was out right a better film all around. I enjoyed the Number 23 , but in comparison I'd say there really wasn't one lol. I

No, no, no! Don't start a thread like this, you have to warn readers of spoilers. Not write them in the title. Shutter Island is kinda ruined now. I know that there is a twist, and that just ruins the twist for any movie, I also know that it's similar to Number 23 so I also know what to except from the twist.

Shutter Island was a higher quality film, though.
