confused about the wife (spoilers)
when did she know/learn that jim carrey was the author?
shareWhen she went to Nathaniel's Institute and found his casefile.
share"When she went to Nathaniel's Institute and found his case file." Yes that is what I concluded as well, but it ruins the movie. Up until that point we are trying to figure figure out if 23 is magical or not with no clear answer. If the wife only found out the connection at this late point in the game, we have no choice but to have some super-natural force leading her to the book in the beginning of the movie.
shareI gather we were supposed to gather that she purchasing the book on his birthday was pure happenstance.
share" pure happenstance" no such thing in a movie like this if its done properly.
shareAhh but it was a bit wishy-washy all around, interesting enough for a sit-through but without much re-watch value, I feel. I gave it a 6.
Probably my biggest complaint is, why did the good doctor leave out the 23rd chapter when compiling the book, when it was apparent that it was there on the walls of that motel room for everyone to see and for the police to take photos of, photos the doctor certainly had access to when putting the book together even if the original inscriptions had been covered with wallpapers by that time but I digress.
Yeah they could've given the role of the wife some further thinking, including the way she happens upon the book.
