Warning: Shaking cam!

A mess of unmotivated zooming - tilting – shaking.

Grow up Hollywood!!

i really don't understand peoples hatred of shakey cam, if everything was static and on a tripod it would become more tedious then a moving more natural flow of the camera. but hey thats my opinion, you like what you do

"if everything was static and on a tripod it would become more tedious then a moving more natural flow of the camera."

But shakey cam is NOT a "more natural flow of the camera." It's the camera moving in unnatural ways. There are movies with two people sitting down talking in a nice, quiet scene, and the camera is jerking all over like the operator is a spastic. Then you add that to an action scene where the shots are all 2 or 3 seconds long, and you can't see anything and it gets really annoying.

Done with a certain amount of restraint, the technique can add energy to a scene. But if you're constantly shaking the camera no matter what's going on in the scene, I just assume the director knows it's crap and is trying to hide it.

Actually I disagree and I'm usually someone that expresses strong dislike of shakey-cam.

I agree the technique gets over-used as a cheap ass way of trying to generate more energy from a particular scene.

Unfortunately its reached the point in most films where it actually becomes distracting and I suddenly become painfully aware of just the effect, which takes me out of the movie.

However.... in Crank they really nailed it. Their method of shakey cam in Crank is actually a lot smoother than many other films. It was entirely appropriate for the whole feel of the film and I never once felt distracted by it.

Got a thumbs up from me. The balance was just right in Crank.

I love shaky cameras in movies

Dodge Charger R/T 1969

It's not shaky cam. It's Neveldine & Taylor.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

Yeah, annoying shaky cam is why we only lasted through 15 minutes of this. Also, 20 minutes of the first episode of The Shield. Hate that crap.
