Sum up Anjelica Huston's performance

I'm an Anjelica Huston fan but I haven't watched the movie. Frankly, I'm not that interested to, seeing as how westerns are not my cup of coffee. But anyway, I've heard a lot of reviews about her performance, and the camp is mainly divided into 2:

1) These reviewers scratch their heads and ask whether Anjelica's role was some sort of a hallucination. I read that she pops out from the middle of nowhere. The verdict of these reviewers: she shouldn't have been in the movie.

2)These reviewers, on the other hand, LOVE Anjelica's performance, with a few even saying that thank God, she saved this paltry of a film.

What are your opinions?

If you dont like this film or its stars why are you wasting our time and yours by voicing your "paltry" opinions ?

reply

Please read carefully. I didnt say I disliked this film, I said I'm hesitant to watch it because westerns are not my cup of coffee and nowhere in the post did I express dislike of any stars.

Wait .. do you understand what I'm saying? Or are you seriously lacking in basic skills of reading?

Im a Liam Neason fan as well but I have to say I think this is just about the worst performance I've ever seen him give.I couldnt help but feel somewhere along the line he decided that he really didnt want to be in this mess of a movie.

To sum it up:

She plays 'satan' (maybe), in the guise of a snake-oil seller. Her performance was just fine. The scene in which she appears seems to be a hallucination but I think it is actually a post-death scene which occurs 'not on an earthly plane'.

satan is nice ;)

reply

No, no no. Satin is nice. I'm wearing it now. Satan causes chafing and yeast infections.

It's funny - I'm not a huge fan of Liam Neeson, but I loved his performance in this film. Frankly, I think it's his best - from his American accent & gruff voice to his body language and facial expressions, he has the role of the hunter not just down pat, but with some originality as well.

Same with Brosnan as the hunted...he really shows the desperation of a man trying to evade death.

As for Angelica Houston, she plays her role brilliantly as well. I wasn't sure what to make of the character while I was watching the film, though she was certainly entertaining. In retrospect, I think her inclusion in the film works very well, and adds to the film's originality and quirkiness.

Angelica Huston's character was a welcome twist to the film I thought. The way that she appears out of nowhere and trades possible survival (a horse and a water canteen) for damnation (a single bullet and a loaded pistol) suggests to me that she was definitely Hell-sent.

Just read on Wikipedia that when Hustons characters trailer rolls away that on the back painted the name 'Louise C. Fair' - Lucifer. I rewatched the scene and indeed it does. The devil she certainly is.

Oh, and by the way, I thought that Hustons performance was pretty good, but in the face of Brosnan and Neeson, neither of whom I usually rate too highly, she paled in comparison. The two male leads were incredible, especially Brosnan.
