Brosnan Was Outstanding
Regardless of a plot that some may feel too esoteric and deliberately indulgent, Pierce Brosnan's performance here genuinely is outstanding. With very few lines, nothing, in fact, spoken at all by the actor for the first 25 minutes - or so - this is a physical performance of rare ability, one of those performances that has you on the edge of your seat, just because of what the actor is doing.
I always liked Brosnan as an actor and feel that he will endure as an actor despite his profile being somewhat lower than his days as Bond - and, true, it's unlikely he'll reach those lofty heights of fame again. But so long as he keeps performing to the ability evident here, I welcome anything he is in.
So, a terrific performance and a fine film. The ending throws up more questions than answers, and if that ending comes via some meandering, I'll attest to the first 45 minutes of this film being as thrilling as anything I've seen the past four or five years. Mostly down to Pierce Brosnan...
