Just extremely annoying that . . .

...this movie is already leaving the theatres and never played near me. And "Norbit" will probably go on and on and on and on . . .

reply

Annoyed here too.:-( Really wanted to see this one on the big screen.

reply

I totally agree. This movie did not play anywhere in Pennsylania, despite being excellent. It is a shame that the distributors, Sony entertainment did not/would not pony up the money for wide release.

reply

IDP/Samuel Goldwyn seems to have been more in more direct control than Sony and they don't do wide films so I wasn't expecting that. But it didn't even have a good limited release. It played in ONE major East Coast city, NYC. (and here even the newspaper ads were small and there were no TV and radio ads - the theater where I saw it didn't even have a poster in the lobby when every other film playing had one) The only other places it played on the East coast were in a couple of theaters in NJ and Conn. It hasn't made it to Boston, D.C, Philadelphia, Atlanta etc. I gather it's all part of their distribution policy -- that the film appeals more to people in the West/South West.

Supposedly it's going to Las Vegas next week. Then the week after San Antonio TX, Salt Lake City Utah, and Portland Oregon. So maybe it might make it to a state near you before it comes out on DVD. I hope so for those who want to see it, because it really is a big screen film.

reply

If it makes you feel better I'll never see it in a theater either. I live in the ABSOLUTE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, sadly. I'll have to wait until the DVD comes out. :\

Isuppose this wont go overseas now,i live in the uk i will just have to wait for the DVD unless anybody has heard otherwise

reply

It had been playing in NYC, which is about an hour and a half train ride for me, but I thought for sure that after a limited release, it was going to open wider. I screwed up on that one. I love "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and this looks like it has a similar feel to it. Just was excited about seeing it on the big screen - now I have no doubt that I'll have to wait for the dvd.

reply

It depends on the distributor. Icon which produced the film distributes it's own films in the UK and Australia -- so those two countries have a very good chance of seeing them -- better than most people in the U.S. or in other countries.

reply

Picac-thanks for the reassurance.

reply

I wanted to see this movie so BAD!I have 23 cinemas around me and they could not get this one movie. The distribution on this movie STINKS!! I'll have to wait for the DVD.That'll probably be in limited release too!

reply

I just heard a rumor from a good source that the movie might be coming to Washington DC in 1 to 2 weeks. I'm not sure what that means for other cities.

reply

God the distribution on this film pongs to high heaven dont you think ?

reply

I agree that the distribution on this stinks. What's even more irritating is that the Goldwyn Co. seems to be advertising the heck out of their new release Amazing Grace and it appears to be doing well even without any big stars. Just think what they might have been able to do with Seraphim Falls if they had just tried. Talk about frustrating.

reply

Just as a postscript, I did watch it on dvd, and thought it was great. Just a whole lot better than most of the junk out there.

reply

yeah. still waiting.
