Gene Hackman
No info on it in the credits or on IMDb, but did anyone else swear that was Gene Hackman who found that Pierce was gone from the tent at the railroad camp?

shareGene Hackman was not in the film, not even a cameo.
shareThat was him. I'm nearly 100% sure.
shareIt wasn't him. I'd have noticed him instantly. It's shame it wasn't though not just because I'd have loved to see him in the film but I'd love to see him in any film now and not just doing voice overs for commercials on TV. What a waste.
shareIt's him. Just go right to that part on the DVD and look for yourself. Gene Hackman finds Pierce is no longer in the tent then tells the foreman.
shareI think it's him, too.
Freeze at 1:02:06 and you get a good look at him. They've enlarged his nose, but it's Hackman.
amazing, i think the brief voice when he informs that Pierce isn't in tent indicates it's hackman, plus the image of him looking inside the tent eventhough they did a decent job making not making it obvious that it's him.
shareumm thats not him you idiots
sharelol - i'm not 100% sure but with some changes like a fake nose perhaps it could be?
shareYes its Gene Hackman
no it is not
shareUnless you can tell me who it is (without just grabbing a name from the cast list), stop calling us idiots and stop insisting it's not him, jackass. Why is the idea of an uncredited cameo so ridiculous to you? The boy who played Nathaniel in this movie was also uncredited for whatever reason. And considering that Gene Hackman's last work other than Home Depot commercials was Welcome to Mooseport, I really don't think a bit part is beneath him.
shareperhaps payote use causes the appearance of Gene?
shareseriously...why would gene have a 1 second uncredited cameo in an independent film....
im such a moron
It's not Gene Hackman. I recognized the fella but I don't know his name.
shareGene Hackman would give 1 second, but he did not in this case. If he had, that would really have put some levity in the film for us nutcases. I suggest those insisting it is Hackman actually look at his latest photos. Regardless, I think this is a great film.
sharePeople...I was in the movie, present throughout the entire shoot and standing nearby during that scene.
It.. is... not... Gene Hackman.
That is clearly not Gene Hackman. An old guy who bares a resemblance to him, sure, but it is obviously not Gene Hackman.
"Maybe, maybe not, maybe f--- yourself."
I just re-looked at this, and after isolating the ONE shot of his famous face (fakish-looking nose) and listening VERY carefully to his ONE line "He's GONE", I say it's definetly HIM.
WOW!!!! Wonder why he's not in the credits and all....too bad, he lends an air of seasoned and well-reasoned manner to nearly any film he in.
This is maybe the dumbest post I've ever seen. It's not Gene Hackman. Gene Hackman is not listed in the credits, nor is there anyway you would use an actor with the prowess of Gene Hackman to deliver one tiny line and give him such a brief, split-second shot. If you're gonna put Gene Hackman in a movie, you're going to draw attention to it, even if it's just a cameo. It's utterly ridiculous to think they'd give him a prosthetic nose and have him deliver one line, which would only supply him with about a second of screen time. That's absolutely idiotic. It is in NO WAY Gene Hackman. The guy just sounds like him and bears a resemblence.
shareAfter reading all the posts, I'm shocked to find so much idiocy existing in one place. There's probably enough material to finish the Bill & Ted's trilogy. Two posts up lists Boots Southerland. It's him. Shocked? Don't be. David Von Ancken mentions that it's him on the DVD commentary.
shareThank you. I hope reading the elaborate conspiracy necessary to get Hackman into this film uncredited will wake a few folks up. The scenario you outlined sounds like something out of a Family Guy clip.
Fear is the Mind Killer
Wrong. It's not Hackman. It's actor Boots Southerland. He's listed in the credits and mentioned by name during the scene by the director in the DVD commentary.

WHY ARE YOU TYPING IN ALL CAPS PSYCHO?
Hit the CAPS LOCK KEY damnit.
No No, its him. Fake nose and Porno mustache, new quaff, and different look altogether! I swear take all those things away and it is Gene! Also, I do believe Pierce Brosnans character was played by James Earl Jones. Not in the credits but I swear it was him.
shareIt is clearly not Gene Hackman. When the face appeared, I said: "that guy looks kind of like an older uglier version of Gene Hackman!" Note the words "kind of looks like" in that sentence. But it is clearly not him- read the posts about the DVD commentary and wake up to yourselves!
shareThat's not Gene Hackman, looks a little like him but it's not.
shareMost definitely Gene Hackman, and he did it to create querulousness like this. Probably gives him a good laugh.
share[deleted]
Touche, but it still bears a strong resemblance to him and sounds like him and no one has been able to say it's this guy, not Gene Hackman.
shareWhy is there always someone on these boards that swear they were there during filming and know if it was him or not?
shareWe're called actors stephenmonachello, and to get the film made it's kind of necessary that we're there during filming.
A side effect of that ends up being that we get to see what really goes on.
For instance Gene Hackman not being on set.
lol definitely NOT gene hackman wow
share[deleted]
It's NOT Gene Hackman, it's BOOTS SOUTHERLAND.
shareI have the DVD in right now as I am writing this. It is NOT Gene Hackman. If you look close the actor is also in several other scenes. He can be seen in the background when Carver first arrives in town and he is also the same man that Carver disarms and holds a gun to when he leaves town. If you pause it in one spot he does look a little like Gene Hackman, but if you pause it in another he looks more like Bernard Hill. On the commentary they say that his name is "Boots."
Now pay very close attention because this part may confuse some of you.
If you actually watch the credits at the end of the film and not rely solely on IMDB you will find an actor named Boots Southerland played the part of "Big Henchman." Also, though he may not be listed on IMDB the actor who played Nathaniel IS credited in the film as Adon Cravens.
Now I know some of you may be startled by the fact that IMDB is fallible and does not always credit everyone but the world will go on. I'm sure there are a few out there who are in shock right now, but when you calm down you might want to call a greif counselor to help you move on.
LOL... Boots Sutherland appears in WYATT EARP with Hackman... If they share any scenes, it might get mighty confusing for some people...

RIP
He's not Hackman. 100% sure.
shareSadly, some of these thread posters are so stubbornly dug into their position that Hackman is in this film, regardless of the evidence, that even if Hackman personally told them he wasn't in it they'd claim he was lying.

Reading this stuff is almost as entertaining as sports-talk radio.
shareHey - wasn't that Gene Hackman driving the medicine show wagon? There was a lot of makeup and it looked and sounded like Anjelica Huston, but I am fairly sure it was Gene Hackman. Oh, and Liam Neeson's horse was played by Donald Sutherland.
share This could be the greatest topic in the history of IMDB.
"Congratulations, Major. It appears that at last you have found yourself a real war." Ben Tyreen
That couldn't have been Gene Hackman driving the medicine show wagon, he was too busy filming for the starring role in 'The Queen'.
shareIt sounds like him, but I don't think it is. Gene is 6' 2", and the foreman of the railroad camp is 6'" even, they stood beside each other and the man towered over the Gene look alike.

best first page of a thread on imdb *beep* has me dying hahahaha

I think Boots Sutherland is Gene pushing method acting to the limit. Boots Sutherland, smon, y'all can see the name is fake! Thats Gene!
shareThis is one of the nerdiest, funniest threads ever.
shareI just spoke to Gene on the phone, he said ... "What film?"
shareIt's definitely Boots Southerland.
Here he is from Seriphim Falls

How has this thread run to 6 pages?
I even took the trouble of watching that scene again last night, only to be confronted by a man who looks about as much like Gene Hackman as P Diddy.
Wow! he DOES look very like Gene Hackman admittedly, with a prosthetic nose perhaps, especially in the first photo! he he he! But any Hackman fan can tell the difference surely...
gazzaman1
maybe the eyes or something. still i think it would be mentioned
Jake: She says he's pretty.
Joey: Yeah, well, you make him ugly.
What a great thread!!!! I cant believe I read it all.....I have tears rolling down my cheeks!!!
I love it when people are 100% certain......but wrong!! LOL hahahahahaha

I love it when people get trolled and don't realize it! Ha
shareUPDATE!!!!!!!
Gene Hackman to play role of Andre the Giant in the forthcoming remake of "The Princess Bride".
Representatives of actor Gene Hackman have announced that the actor will be playing the roll originated by Andre the Giant in the forthcoming remake of "The Princess Bride". The revelation added fuel to the controversy over whether or not the new film was indeed an actual remake, or simply a re-adaptation of the original book of the same name. Other names attached to the soon-to-be filmed feature include Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Shaquille O'Neal, Bradley Cooper, Britney Spears and Ben Stiller (rumored).

I only read the first two pages of posts of this thread, which basically went:
"That was Gene Hackman!"
"No, it wasn't!"
"Yes, it was!"
"No, it wasn't!"
"Yes, it was!"
...and so on for several posts, so I don't know if it was ever resolved. However, anyone who think that is Gene Hackman is either high or doesn't know who Gene Hackman is.
I can get pretty close to proving there was no uncredited cameo by Hackman:
Search for "Seraphin Falls Gene Hackman". There isn't a single mention on the entire internet of Hackman having anything to do with this movie.
i think one of the posts indicated that it was gene hackman wearing a prosthetic nose and fake facial hair

It wasn't Gene Hackman, it was Jean Hack-Man you fools !
I'm sorry baby, I had to crash that Honda.
