Best Creature Feature in LONG time

I absolutely loved this movie. It was loads better than campy Lake Placid, the so-bad-it-should-not-have-even-been-made sequel, Lake Placid 2, Black Water, Primeval, etc. In fact, I would say that this is quite possibly the best and smartest creature feature to date. My second would be Anaconda because I love that movie. Anacondas however was just terrible. Rogue should have had a wide release because I believe with the great critical appraise it would have gotten, people would have seen it. It's much more than a creature feature though. It's a thriller and it actually scares you. Opinions?

I thought it was almost on par with Jaws.

Naturally, a movie like Rogue needs a worthy monster, and I was quite taken with the one on display here. A combination of puppetry and CGI, the crocodile only looks fake during a couple of scenes. It's a good thing too, because otherwise, the Final Showdown (which may very well be the best act of the picture) would have zero chance of succeeding. I can understand why McLean wanted to make Rogue; what horror director wouldn't want to helm a creature feature? As I mentioned before though, if it's gore or elaborate kills you're looking for, you'd be better off renting Lake Placid, Alligator, or the dozens of low budget killer crocodile movies that are currently collecting dust on many a video store shelves. This picture is in a different league than the others (though I must confess Alligator is pretty fun), even if I can say it's a step forward for McLean. More than anything, it's further proof his career is one worth following.

I agree. (I really really like Lake Placid but its more of a comedy in my opinion.) I also really like Deep Blue Sea(Even though the sharks were genetically enhanced.) In Fact parts of Rogue reminded me of DBS... Like when Radha Mitchel was attacked and should have died, reminded me when Samuel L Jackson and Saffron Burrows get attacked and died. Rogue was very well made. It had some very scary and real intese scenes.
