Fairly disappointing...

Maybe it's just me. When I see a film like this, where a group of people are put into a dangerous situation and have to work together to survive, I kind of want to see a little bit more action. I feel as though we didn't see very much. I mean, the potential was there. There was a full boatload of people and only two died (and even then, we didn't see much if anything at all), plus the one guy from the other boat, plus... the dog, I suppose. Which brings the body count up to four. That's quite a let down, I find.
Not much death and what death there was barely got shown. Maybe it was trying not to be too bloody or violent for one reason or another but in my opinion it certainly could have been a lot better. The first twenty minutes had me excited, wondering how many of them would die/get hurt and what was going to happen, but the ending just left me thinking "...that's it?".
I'm not even saying it's a bad film, just... lacking so much.

I agree. I like these sort of films to have something to them. Preferably to go one of two ways:

1) Full on horror. Be brave, kill anyone including dogs, kind characters and or children. It makes the situation far more intense and frightening because anyone can die at any moment. It's nothing to do with 'karma.' (See: Spanish film 'Rec.')

2) If you aren't going to be very bloody or violent, that's cool, but then make it about the characters. I want to see a lot of bonding, or fighting, and introspection and people evaluating their lives and their relationships. I want to see someone properly freak out and lose it; for others to be strangely calm.. That way it's at least engaging and thoughtful and makes you wonder what you'd be thinking. (See: 'The Shinning'.)

I felt like this was neither. Not enough gore to shock, not enough suspense to keep you on edge, not enough characterisation to focus on.

I didn't think it was bad, it just wasn't great, and it could have been.
