If Edgar Wright directed

This could've been so good.

reply

Thank God he didn't direct. We would have had another Scott Pilgrim esque disaster

I liked the film as-is but I do think Wright would have given it a little more "flavor". Probably why Disney/Marvel sh-t-canned him.

You're insinuating it's not a good movie? I think what we got turned out great. Had good humorous moments, well timed moments, action, some suspense, more humorous moments.

Since Edgar wrote the core of this movie(he was credited), his vision would have probably been about what you got anyways. :/

Evangeline Lilly said the script was fairly different. She said it would have been an amazing movie, more of a "classic comic book" style deal, but it just would have "stuck out like a sore thumb" in the MCU and ruined the suspension of disbelief that it's all one continuity.

How can it "ruin" the continuity of a universe that is largely made up? Captain America is a historical piece with scifi elements. Thor is mythology with human based elements. Iron Man is about obsession and more about a man coming to terms with his mortality after not giving a crap. Guardians is about the misfits among us and a space opera of sorts. Ant-Man is a screwball comedy. They're all different films with different directions, but still part of a greater tapestry.

Agreed!

I'm glad he didn't direct it. Otherwise it wouldn't have fit with the MCU.

RELEASE THE RIGHT CUT!!!!!!!

Never watched it, because I'm a fan and he didn't do it. He almost made me watch a comic book film, but things transpired.

Good to know the majority disagrees! Not on these negativity-loving (reich wing infested) boards obviously, but most fans outside here.

But yeah, damn fine film. Would be cool to see Wright direct an MCU film, sure, but this Ant-Man was the bomb! You brought it, Peyton Reed! And thanks for bringing along the one and only Gregg Turkington, his brief appearance as Dale is a highlight.
