Gene Hunt is friggin hilarious

I mean, I laughed at least twice in every episode when he said something, and especially the moments between him and Sam are golden. I seldom laugh of TV shows/films at all, so it surprises me a bit when I think about it. It is done so well, you don't think of them as actors. They seem so obvious, so natural. Life on Mars is a great series.

Also, do you find Ashes to Ashes worth watching, or has Gene lost some of his sparkling personality in it? I imagine it won't be half the show LOM since Sam isn't there.

Ashes to Ashes is good if you sort of treat it like a totally different programme to LoM, just with the same characters.
And Alex Drake is pretty annoying but there are lots of good moments...I'd say its worth watching, if only for the Quatro...

He's got some fantastic dialogue it has to be said and Phillip Glenister is obviously having a whale of a time playing him.
