Hegl and Rogan hooking up: not in the real world

I'm surprised that no one here has brought up the topic of the likelihood of these two getting together. Someone as gorgeous as Hegl could have her pick of guys. Rogan just does not seem like the type she'd hook up with, drunk or not. He's not handsome, is slovenly, yes he's funny, but not the kind of guy she could take home. I'd expect her to be pickier, esp since she's in the entertainment industry. Anyone else think this?

reply

Not really. A woman is way more likely to date a less attractive guy than the other way around.

Secondly, it's not like she warmed up to him right away. The majority of the movie was her process to accept/love him as he was.

reply

Yes, the idea of a girl who is getting her exciting new career going choosing a chubby burnout who's plan for their future is watching porn, is ridiculous .

That's not even taking into account that he's ugly with a stupid haircut and she's hot enough to find a perfect male specimen: attractive, intelligent, wealthy/productive/creative, and funny... which this guy is none of.

But the movie had established that she was pretty sick of the shallow, flashy Hollywood scene and getting annoyed with her uptight, upper class family. Her relationship with him was partly a form of rebellion. No forbidden topics or lectures about weight loss with him.

reply

So I guess she was just slumming it hardcore because he was one repugnant mofo. She should have sought out Beavis or Butthead. At least they are funny

reply

She was drunk and thought he was funny and hes not that disgusting, by hollywood standards he looks pretty qnarly but as an average guy on street hes normal and she was wasted and they *beep* it happens all the time in real life, i take it you are not much of a drinker

she thought he was gross when she sobered up the next day and didnt talk to him until she found out she was pregnant and then still didnt like him at all until he won her over months later

reply

because it really happens. What you think is what tv and movies tell you. I appreciated that they decided to tell the story this way because it is very believable and people aren't as shallow as you think.

reply

I think one of the most unexpected pairings I've ever seen in real life was a gal hot enough to be a Playboy model who was married to a guy who was a dead ringer for Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel from The Simpsons. No idea how that one happened. I've seen other instances where one would assume the girl was way out of the guy's league yet they are in a very happy and content relationship.

So, yeah, don't believe everything Hollywood tells you about how attractive people behave. I didn't find this movie implausible at all.

Heigl is attractive? Joke of the year so far...

Sooo is Seth more your type?

IMO...unlikely...but possible! And really that's all that counts.

reply

Seth's character was down to earth and personable; plus, he wasn't a bad looking guy. It's not as unrealistic as you think. For the record, my first was a fat guy and no I don't have some weird fat fetish and I wasn't desperate. Women are generally less likely to weed out guys based on looks whereas guys are generally superficial.

reply

Maybe your first was a nice guy who treated you well because he was not an alpha male-type, good looking douchebag. He was unchallenging and you felt safe. Besides, seeing as how he bagged a very pretty girl, I bet he felt very lucky indeed. Nice average chunky guy scored over all the pretty boys. I bet on a bad day he thinks back to you and it cheers him up. I get it.

reply

yeah women are not superficial.. worse, they're goldiggers!

they're attracted to money, power and fame.

Not all women are that way. And, you know it.
