The Tree of Life 8.5/10
Knight of Cups 10/10 (my favorite Bale's film and of the year)

There's something wrong with Esther.

I think they're both masterpieces, but I'm going to give the edge to my favorite movie of the decade so far - "The Tree of Life". What Malick did there really set a bar for what filmmakers should be inspired by on a daily basis.

I found Knight of Cups to be almost a parody of Malick's style. Arty for the sake of being arty. Pretentious and hollow.

Tree of life meanwhile was interesting. Maybe I don't agree with all of what Malick was doing there, but it was unlike anything I've seen before, or since.


