The son of a b**** didn't like his father although as we see he actually has a pretty nice guy as a father. Most people don't have that FFS!!!

I have kids, and I wouldn't abandon them if they acted like that or for any reason. But I did think the kid acted like a tool in the movie. Very unlikeable character.

OP and second poster should grow up. Jeez...it's just a fake kid in a made-up story. Relax. Are you mental or something? He was dissapointed in his dad for being a bit of a deadbeat. It's part of the story and makes the viewer sympathetic toward Ben Stiller's character, so you'll be more apt to root for him and happy when he triumphs. Happy ending sell big in Hollywood.

Do people actually watch movies? Sometimes I doubt very much they do.
Nick actually didn't "dislike" his dad and he didn't begin to respect him just because he saw he had a cool workplace. If you remember he came to see his dad at work the following morning with his mom's boyfriend because he was proud his dad had a job, he wanted to be shown around. But his dad needed time having endured his first night and witnessing for the first time the exhibits coming to life (wouldn't anybody need to adjust?)
His son also came to work the next morning with a few of his friends hoping to see his dad but instead witnessed his dad's boss fire him which would be a disappointment for any child, let alone to have two of his friends present.
Then to see his dad speak to the bones of a t-rex and a wax dummy, expecting them to come to life only for nothing to happen, how would you feel?
Perhaps if you actually see what is going on instead of having the brains of the neanderthal men....sheesh!

I agree. Hollywood screenwriters are incapable of 'creating' realistic kids.
They are insufferable. Or speak like adults. (Or both.)
Then, there are movie kids too stupid for their age, and ALWAYS kids hating their parents.
Sometimes I wonder if the writers have kids themselves...particularly when they have to write a kids movie!

shareI hate the kid too. What a spoiled little brat. He shows NO respect for his father until the end of the movie. He acts like his dad is his kid or something. And what kid actually cares if his dad gets fired from a job? Geez. So unrealistic.
shareI totally agree with you. He didn't talk or act like a normal kid. No kid would say what he did! A kid his age wouldn't understand most of what was going on. He wouldn't be upset over his dad not having a job, not at that age. He would be more upset over not being able to see his dad, which was what his mother was tyring to do. I'm sure his mother was feeding him info.
