Lucky Guess?

**Spoiler Warning**

At the end of the contest when Brian pounces on the astronomy question before the host even reads the full question, couldn't Brian have gotten himself off the hook by arguing it was a go for broke hail mary lucky guess?

reply

I was thinking the same thing, as far as constellations go, that was a pretty good bet.

Faith means making a virtue out of not thinking. - Bill Maher

reply

That COULD have worked but when he then continues with variations of the consellations WORD FOR WORD... it was exactly how Bamber would see it written on his card

reply

The point is that the Astronomy question SHOULD have been something really obscure that Brian would only be able to answer word-for-word if he had seen the question.

reply

I wondered that too ... as far as constellations go, Ursa Major or the Big Dipper is the first thing most people think of. It would have worked better if they picked Cephus the King or something else that nobody's heard of.

Hell, I got a final Jeopardy clue once before the question was even read, just because I guessed the first thing that came to mind when I saw the category and it turned out to be right.

reply

There is no way they could had known he cheated unless the production associate admitted he left the envelope lying around.

The Big Dipper or Orion's belt are known constellations.

Its that man again!!

reply

He could have said he must have heard it when he was blacked out or something like that and he had no idea why that triggered that.

reply

He should have said he guessed. The production manager would be very unlikely to contradict him since he would have gotten himself into trouble.

The answer wasn't obscure and the time was very clearly nearly up on the round. He could have said he panicked and guessed the first thing he thought of on the topic of astronomy

They would be very suspicious but they would have no proof against him
