Are the 'family values' elements added for the women in the audience?

I always think it ruins a good action movie when the writers decide to add some lame tender storyline. Sometimes I wonder if all that is added in to hold the interest of the women in the audience who were dragged to this movie by their husbands/boyfriends. Yeah let's add some tender family scenes at the end so everyone can go home happy. Very tired. Very Hollywood.

It may surprise you to know that most women in the audience prefer the action and perving at the leading men...the lame tender storyline is so that the lame tender males watching the film can see the "hero" as a real person with emotions and feelings and all that *beep*

I'm a Lieutenant Detective in, uh, Homicide. That's a fancy name for murder.
