Numb

Definately one of the darkest episodes of the show I've seen. Had some funny moments though, mostly Bloberta destroying her vag with industrial power tools. Looks like Clay and Orel's hunting trip is going to play a role in future episodes as well. AS really *beep* up in cancelling this show, but at least it looks like it's going to get a proper ending.

You know, I can't help thinking the darker, more serious tone in the show is either a direct result, or the cause of cancellisation.
As for being dark, well, I honestly though the series was always pretty damn dark to begin with. I don't just mean "Best christmas Ever" and "Nature", it was also pretty dark in the "normal" comedic episodes. It was more "black comedy" dark than just dark.
You could always see the black ugliness poking out of the cracks in the facade of Moralton throughout the series (which I actually found to be slightly more disturbing than when it was more obvious). The difference is in eps line "Numb" and Nature" the happy facade isn't there any more, and we see things as they really are. It looks like the series is going to keep on with the stark view of Moralton for the rest of the series, since everything seems to be comng to a head now.
I always thought that despite some failings, Orel was a very good show, and I'll be sad to see it go.
However, this was a fantastic episode and if the rest of the season follows suit (I'm betting it will) then I'm very, VERY glad it gets to end like this.

I think it needs to end with power rather that just be ran dry like so many other shows. Numb was a brilliant episode. I loved how it began and ended the most.

not sure how i felt about this episode. i thought it was good, but also very depressing. not like other episodes. they were always very bright and cheery with depressing undertones and a dark season finale, whereas the episodes of this season are most likely going to be dark and depressing with comic undertones. not sure what the last episode will be like, but interesting switch...

This is the best thing I've seen on television in a long, long time... Until "Nature" aired I didn't pay much attention to the series, actually. The bleak, dark humor was great, but the idea that it would just sort of keep on being this episodic thing seemed odd, given the exaggerated and disturbing circumstances in every episode. As soon as that hit, it did what I was always hoping the series would do- it brought humanity, of a sort, to its characters. A cold-blooded, frightening humanity, but humanity nonetheless. And this episode continuing from that really excites me. I can only imagine where it's going.

i've read in many places, actually, that "Alone" was the "...final nail in the show's coffin..."
maybe they were just getting too edgy/depressing...?

Yeah, Dino himself said that right before the premiere.

I guess I have to agree that the obvious implications of rape, abortion, and still lusting for said rapist were the hardest they've ever pushed it to date, even more so than Nature did.
