Canceled because it imitates a children's show (a theory)

I was thinking about this earlier, and does it feel like the only reason for the cancellation is because it has mature matter in a very child like appearance? I say this because it's not as if there haven't been other shows with strong or "controversial" subject matter (Martin Luther King called everyone ni**ers in a church on the Boondocks, after all, Adult Swim is not new at all to racy stuff).

So I was contemplating it, maybe it's not just what the show has turned to now but because it specifically imitates a Biblical children's show of the past.

Which frankly makes me mad. I'm a Christian myself but even I can see this show for what it is and I think it's a disgrace to get rid of something so genius. Family Guy continues on with all of it's randomness but God forbid a humor show with deep thought runs as well.

I think it was more of a ratings related cancellation. Unfortunately, it doesn't pull in Family Guy or Robot Chicken numbers (why that *beep* keeps getting renewed is beyond me). It's a shame too as Moral Orel is one of the best shows Adult Swim has and it seems that in it's new and final season that it's really starting to hit its stride.

Family Guy and Robot Chicken don't require you to see an entire episode to find it funny. You can be flipping channels, see it, laugh, and be hooked.

Moral Orel takes longer to build the context in which things are especially funny. Unless the visuals catch your attention, it's easier to dismiss it.

That is why that *beep* keeps getting renewed while Moral Orel does not.

I never said I didn't understand it's popularity to the group that enjoys Robot Chicken. However, poorly written dick and fart jokes just don't do it for me.

I will say I actually enjoy watching both Family Guy and Robot Chicken, but, as I said it angers me that Moral Orel has been cancelled. Family Guy and Robot Chicken are funny to me because I can get the references. I'm old enough and know the films and shows parodied in them.

To me Moral Orel was a change that while I found it odd to say the least at first, the show quickly appealed to me for showing what has become of a great deal of "Christian" people. Rather than hiding the way the laws of religion have become twisted it throws it in your face and forces you to see the lack of humanity we have today with many... Honestly Moral Orel is no longer just black humor but something to make you think as well, even with it being "just an animated series".

It may be late for me to say this as I'm sure it's been discussed before but that was the whole thing about the show. It was something of a parody of those old Biblical children's shows, which was genius I do agree, and anyone who saw it could instantly see it if they were aware of those old shows.

Besides it was aired on Adult Swim late at night for it's maturity, child-like appearance or not it doesn't really matter since this wasn't a show for children.

Trust me it wouldn't have gone one episode much less three seasons without someone noticing things like that.

The cancellation was basically the heads reading the direction of the storyboard for the next season and noticing how 'dark' it was about to turn from the usual Moral Orel formula and deciding that people wouldn't like it so they'd told them to wrap it up. Sadly they didn't predict that the 'dark' and frighteningly realistic/honest turn would be rather well liked by the fans and by the time they noticed it was too late.

Luckily we might be getting a Morel Orel movie/special and I'm hoping that some of the things they where planning to do with the 3rd and maybe 4th season will be used, especially Orel's grandfather making an appearance.

~~Funny, I get the impression you think I'm giving you a choice.
