Will There Be a Season 3?

I'm reading that the series may be continued & if it is it'll be awhile before we'll get to see it, but the thing is the season 2 ending episode came across as being a "series finale" rather than a "season finale" but that's just my take on it.

Also, logically Jeffrey Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, Hopkins, etc are all in demand actors, they can't commit to this indefinitely, so you know it's not going to go on all that much longer anyway.

The bigger question would be IF it is the end, would it make sense to you all if they ended it on this note? What say you all?

reply

I want to see more.
Clearly the post credit scene alluded to more, so much more.

They are definitely doing Season 3 and probably more after that. But I think the end of Season 2 would have been an ok end to the series. Enough questions were answered and storylines resolved to be satisfying.

I do hope that they have a definite end in mind and a plan for getting there, and do not succumb to the "Lost Syndrome." On that note, it concerns me to learn that
Stubbs being a host was thought up by Nolan the night before the scene was shot
.

reply

As far as I know, there's no confirmation on that. Has anyone involved with the show come out & confirmed this for sure?

reply

Yes.

Agreed 100,000%

That the Stubbs thing was a last-minute addition is fairly alarming from a fan perspective - it suggests that Nolan doesn't have a clear plan in mind, and will throw in twists for the sake of shock value only

reply

The 'Lost Syndrome' for this show existed already in it's first season...

reply

Maybe? But it went off the rails in season two.

reply

Not so sure those actors are as in demand as you think, with possibly the exception of Hopkins. The rest of their careers seemed to have stalled a bit.

reply

Yes, it was renewed for a 3rd season a few weeks ago.

Thank you Babar for the link & info.

Yes I suppose everyone is going to tune in more out of curiosity than anything else to see the adventures of Do,ores in our world. Stay tuned!

Lisa Joy has made a point that they have 5 seasons worth of material but that they also plan each individual season out so that it answers nearly all of the questions raised in that season. That would explain why it feels like a "series finale" as much as a "season finale".

If I was TV executive, this would be EXACTLY the kind of writing I would want from a series. Enough long-form story so that the seasons are part of a larger story, but enough short-form story so that if the series ends "early" you're not left with an aborted long story show that ends weird and nobody wants to watch again.

I certainly hope so.
