Please fire Darran Tiernan, TERRIBLE CINEMATOGRAPHER!
I've never had a complaint with Westworld's cinematography during the whole of the first season. But, the cinematography in Season 2 Episode 1 was just off.
Especially in scenes like the initial encounter with Bernard at the beach and at the stable, the camera is just moving around randomly without any thought or intention. This is sci-fi channel level or a low budget TV series level cinematography. In some areas it's fine, but most scenes look terrible. The lighting is also horrendous.
I knew that they must have hired a different cimetographer. Lo and behold, new cinematographer Darran Tiernan did the cimetography, a cable TV show cinematographer. Thankfully he didn't do the cinematography on all of the Season 2 episodes.
Cinematography MATTERS. Please stop using terrible cinematographers just to save a few bucks.
