Vanessa mimes!!!!!

It has been exclusively revealed that Vanessa Anne Hudgens MIMED all through every High School Musical films, as well as on her album release and the live tours! The true voice of Gabriella is in fact Yasmin Walker, an veritably unknown entity hailing from York, England. She was apparantly spotted by Kenny Ortega when he was on vacation at a nearby nudist camp, where Yasmin was performing on stage.

OMG!!!

I heard about this at college today. One of my friends told me that they read it on PopBitch. Obviously, I thought they were lying. But I came home and checked it out, and there was no post! I told them and they were genuinely confused. So I came here to see if it was being discussed - and here was this topic! The post has been removed from the site, so I'm guessing Disney are trying to keep it hushed up. Can you blame them? This is crazy! I'm sure there will be hell to pay if this is true!

Curious how this English girl sings with a perfect American accent?

Think about it.

Well I don't know about the live tour. But I find it hard to believe that you don't know that EVERYONE mimes in musical films, and always has done (but they mostly mime to recordings of there own voice). But that aside as far as I am aware the only person not using there own voice was Zac, and that was only in the first film.

British people generally dont sound British when they sing. look at Julie Andrews

That's mostly true, except for certain pronounciation on some words. You can definately tell that Jemma McKenzie-Brown is British when she sings (horribly I might add) in HSM3.

believe it or not people can actually fake accents.

"frankly my dear, i don't give a damn."

Well singer that dubs for her needs the sack, in HSM she sounds like a mouse that's in the process of being castrated.

Smeg!

Except for the fact this is totally bullcrap. Vanessa has sung live before, evidenced by quite a few tv shows where she didn't sound all that great/hit off notes. If she was miming, she would sound perfect all of the time. Notice how Britney Spears, on television, has never screwed up the words or sounded out of breath? Lip syncing. Vanessa, when she was on Regis and Kelly, was OBVIOUSLY live and a little bit off.

A lot of films have vocals dubbed on in post-production, and seeing that this was shot as a TV film, there may not have been the same budget to be able to record lyrics live etc...

So yes, a lot of material would have been autotuned in post, then dubbed on.

What would be good if we could ever see it would be the guide tracks...

Actualy it is most common for dubbing to be done Pre-Production, and for the perfomer to lip-sinc to the recording (either of themselves, or someone else). Post production is used when the Producer/Director cant decide whose voice to use. As was the case in Show Boat, when they decided at the last minute to dub Julie.
