Even in the 80's teen movies were racy. They are so dumb down now and childish. Teenagers don't act like they do in High School Musical. It's a shame really. :(

If it was an MTV movie then you could complain but HSM is a Disney's movie. Disney's = little children and little children have the right to see programs according to their age.
Anyway I was a teenager and thank goodness I was not a problematic kid as the ones resembled in many 80's movies and 90's movies. I feel more identified with High School Musical's characters... so I guess that not very problematic teenagers are real, at least I consider myself one of them.

The 80's teen movies were all about sex. Sex was really hyped up in the day. My guess is, people were finally moving out the conservative ideas of the 50's and 60's and became able to express themselves in 'other ways.' Nowadays, those movies have their place. And, do you really WANT children to act like they did in the The Breakfast Club? Really? Seriously?
