There's no way....

- that Troy and Gabriela would be a couple in real life
- that two high school cliques would get together and even be BOTHERED forming that plan to separate Troy and Gabriela(where they filmed Troy using the laptop and showing it to Gabriela), nor would it work out
- that the guy/girl you met and sung karaoke with on holiday would happen to transfer to your school...

get where i'm getting with this?....keep it going...=P

- that a boy and girl from competing families would ever be a couple
- that a couple of kids would consider/commit suicide over a crush
- that...

oh, wait - this is another fairly popular fictional show called "Romeo & Juliet"
(I need to go to that board...)

this movie is basicly an idealised version of the world. It's perfect in every single way. The heroes always win, Troy/Gab/everybody are freakin Mary/Gary stus and have no flaws. Everything ends out for the better with none of the characters having to risk anything. Everything is perky perfect. But why do people enjoy this crappy mary-sue fest? One word: escapism. Preteen girls like to imagine themselves as Gabriella and have a romance with Zac. Either that or girls just have no taste in good films.

- that we all have avators
(o right thats the avator)
- we live with wizards and are muggles ( o right thats harry potter)
- we should all be afraid of vampires (o again thats twilight)
- that Alice can visit wonderland( opps sorry that alic in wonderland)
this move is a bit more realistic then most. it was also made for kids who dont care how realistic or unrealistic something is

HAHA well said imsolost, every movie has an age aimed to and a themed to live up to. Just let people enjoy what they want to enjoy and stop bitching about the theme and cheesy story plots. So what if people enjoy the escape they get from HSM, after all, that's what films are supposed to be. Films were made to entertain and help people escape their own worlds for at least an hour or so. If you want an educational film then there are plenty of those been made now in days as well. But HSM is just an entertaining Disney musical film.

Yes trying to be realistic so much that every 5 minutes people burst out into song. Clearly trying to be true to life. It's a disney film aimed primarily at teenage girls, why do people care if it's not true to life. Just about every Film/TV show ever made isn't true to life, you could probably do it for any film (not just kids one's either).

In fact. The top rated film on IMDb is The Shawshank Redemption.

***Spoiler Warning****

Do you really think Andy would've been able to dig a hole through the wall with no one noticing or him being moved?

Even "Reality TV" is scripted these days.

I'm not a massive fan of the film (I'm not it's target audience though) but I do think not liking it because it's not true to life is incredibly naive and stupid.

There's no way ...

- That a drama teacher who takes herself so seriously would choose the talentless newbies Troy and Gabriella as the leads for her musical, over the multitalented, charismatic experienced Ryan and Sharpay.

Um, have you seen the movie or play, Grease?

OP: So basically, you're not familiar with the concept of musicals.

Good luck trying to find one with a plausible plot.

IMDb-boards would be less confusing if people would mark their signatures clearly.
