It seems like the terrorists unnecessarily agitated the passengers. That really was a very wrong thing to do from a terrorist's perspective I think. If you get the passengers angry enough, they may decide to attack regardless of the costs.
They should have told the passengers to stay calm and that they would be okay. Instead, there was a lot of shouting and stabbing and slashing of passengers for no good reason.
Yes, there was no doubt a strong degree of satisfaction from overwhelming those two who were more like torturers than terrorists.
Pretty sure if the terrorists did that, & the passengers still phoned out to loved ones who told them about the WTC & Pentagon, they still would have retaliated, regardless.

More like shocked and upset. They probably would make a move at some point when they calculated that this was a suicide run, but I doubt they would have had the same ferocity as they did with the unnecessary violence directed at themselves.

Calm or agressive, the only reason the passengers reacted was because they knew it was a suicide mission. Otherwise, no one would have done anything.
