Is this the movie I'm thinking of???

I remember seeing a movie in the last couple of years that took place in Washington, and there's a scene where an attractive woman showed up at a senator or member of Congress' office for an interview, carrying a portfolio and pretending to be a journalist or maybe with a lobbying firm or something, and when they were alone she started showing him pictures or some kind of evidence that she was going to blackmail him with. It's weird that's pretty much all I remember other than that she had on a sleek black pencil skirt and killer heels. :) Was this the movie???

Completely off topic for "State of Play," but while I'm on the subject of thinking of a scene and having no idea what movie it was from, does this sound familiar ... An action or maybe spy thriller that opens up in a cabin in the woods where a couple is having a romantic rendezvous or weekend getaway. They later go outside in the cold and are hunted down by unseen assassins, and one or both are shot down in the snow. (I'm thinking one is shot down and the other has to get revenge, but this shows how rusty I am about what the movie is...)

Anyway, thanks if you can clear any of this up for me.
