The film apprently takes place the year it was released or at least definitely after 2007, as that date is referenced in past tense, but all the pc's in the office and cassette dictaphone used suggest it is set may years before.

shareI don't know about the dictaphone idea - cassettes and tape are alive and well in certain professions. I have microcassettes because I have a microcassette recorder. I found out that doctors and lawyers use these things. They persist for various reasons. Maybe digital is just too easy to lose, erase, etc? A cassette is an easy thing to track, carry with you, pass to someone else. I'm not sure what the reasons are but people still use them and prefer them for some things.
