So Bingham got shot dead in the street by the police but if you freeze the typing near the end it says Bingham was found dead in his hotel room with a gun by his side suggesting suicide.

Why the contradiction?

I noticed that, too.
Thank you for bringing that up, I thought I was the only one having an issue with that.

None of you, who have watched the film, has any eplanation for this ??

Yes! I noticed this as well! I paused the movie to read Cal's final article. It read:

When police went to arrest Bingham at his Northern Virginia apartment last night, he was found dead, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A rifle was next to his body.

I was wondering if this was done on purpose, because Cal didn't want to inject himself into the story, and perhaps *how* Bingham died was secondary to the larger story(which is still irresponsible journalism)? Or was this just a case of poor movie editing?

I found it so strange for a journalist to get the scoop AND an eyewitness account, no less, only to then lie about something that could easily be disproved! When the media gets wind of the story, they'll investigate further, see police reports, or perhaps even see Bingham's body, and deduce that it wasn't a single, self-inflicted gunshot, but suicide by cop. Also, people in the area likely heard several rounds of gunfire, etc. This could easily have been explained by Cal writing something like "Bingham was shot and killed by police in an armed standoff outside the Congressman's office late last night." Simple! Done!

I still enjoyed this movie, though! It's a great little journalistic thriller.

I found it unrealistic that Cal would bang out a story on the computer and feel that it could be 'sent' without anyone doing any copy-editing or even reading it to check for factual errors. Think of all that he had been through, the stress of working on deadline, and then no one reads what he wrote. They just allow it to go through. I doubt that would happen.
