I liked him in this I understand wut you're saying.Infact I wish he would do more movies like this, or indie kinda movies. Because I don't want him to end up doing to many mainstream "hollywierd" movies.

My opinion is that Shia is a good actor - but he play essentially the same chacter in this as he does in Holes, Disturbia, etal. He just plays them with varying degrees of angst. Just MHO.

Yeah, but you gotta love every one of them.

Judging from the trailers, and various clips of the movie, he's too played out with "Disney" that seeing him in these roles, it's just not workin for me. It's not credible. But he looked like he did a good job. As well as that other one, Channing Tatum, who I don't normally say this about.

I can get the rat.

I've actually always hated Shia and was disapointed to hear he was going to be in the new Indiana Jones movie, but after watching this movie I really love him. I thought he was amazing, especially the scene in the bathroom when he is crying...soo good. I can finally stop thinking of him as the Even Stevens kid.

I thought he was really good in this. The only others I've seen are Transformers, Disturbia and The Greatest Game Ever Played (The Most Boring Film Ever Made), I thought he could do better than those roles and I think this kind of role is definitely better for him. I thought the language was absolutely terrible though, I mean I don't mind swear words in a film, but it was just far too excessive!x

okay im a HUGE Shia-Lover.
but i have noticed he does do the angry-no one understands me- movies a lot
but i LOVE them! at first it was hard to picture him as anything but louis stevens...but i think he's finally broken out into the movie bizz

and the bathroom scene was ahhh-mazing!

... I am... perplexed for lack of a more dramatic word.

Shia was the glue of this film. His performance was so realistic, and minimalistic and uninhibited which was so incredibly refreshing for me. Particularly the shower scene... no, every scene.

I think Dito DIDN'T fit in. Why do you think Dito left for California to become a writer rather than stay with his friends mucking around? He wasn't MEANT to fit in in the film because he never really did as a person. Shia's performance, whether deliberate or inherent, was very intelligent and reflected what Dito was really like as a person (or so I believe).

So take this 'oddness of presence' and view it as a very deliberate, mechanical choice for the character of Dito.

yeah you do realize that was the point, right? shia had to make you think he didnt fit in - and from what you wrote, i say mission accomplished.

this is one of the best performances of his career too, love this movie.
