Age casting

Great script, great story, great ensemble cast, great performances. Loved the movie.

But
Am I the only one that was puzzled by the casts' ages - in relation to the chronology of the story?
Let's say they were all 18 in 1986. 15 years later, they all would be 33 or so years old.

RDJ - 41
Rosario Dawson - 27
Eric Roberts - 50
SMC - 35

Sure, it happens all the time in movies; particularily 20-somethings playing high-schoolers. But I just found this particular instance rather...odd.

I kinda thought the same thing at first, too. Figured I just shouldn't read too much into the actors' ages. I think casting Eric Roberts was a good idea though. He clearly looks older than the rest of the characters, which seems more realistic to me. One probably doesn't age too well after 15 years in prison. They'd probably look more grizzled and aged.

Unless I missed something, the first part takes place in '86 and the second in 2005. 19 years of separation. When the movie was made, LaBeouf was 20 and RDJ was 41, so the ages seemed close enough to me.

I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
