Do you have to be religious to enjoy this movie?

I was considering adding it to my rental list, but I get frustrated with with movies that are heavy handed with religious themes and never really enjoy them. Should I bother with this one or give it a miss?

Don't let the word "saints" stop you from watching this movie.

reply

It's not religious at all. I highly recommend it.

The word Saints in the title is referring to the people in his life who helped guide and shape him.

There's one shouting match/scuffle in a church, but there's no religious focus at all.

OTOH, there aren't any characters you're gonna like, it'll keep you from ever wanting to be within 500 miles of Queens, and the moral of the story is that if you move away from the neighborhood you grew up in, no matter how dismal it is, that you're a coward and Bad Guy.

I liked the acting - but very few of the characters were tolerable, and I overdosed on the writer/director's angst. I hear it's a good book - but then, I hear that _Beavis and Butthead_ is comedy, so it's hard to tell.
