This is not The South

It's got all the regular tropes but hits very off the mark. For one, the accents are terrible. (Andy Griffith aside)

I'm always intrigued why/when northerners try to write or act 'southern'. I have never seen this done well. It's also a mystery why they'd want to, in the first place. I just don't get it.

This movie could have easily been set in upstate New York; that woulda been perfect. Instead all the fake accents made it come off cheesy.

Another question is, why would any northerner WANT to make something southern? They dig and poke fun of the south and southerners as a rule. Doesn't make sense.

I hear a lot of Southern accents trying to justify Coal and Anti-Abortion movements. It makes sense to lampoon them. Cretins on the half brain shell.

Just to let you know how ignorant you are

That's enough. You were ignorant. Now prove you're not stupid by learning and admitting your post was wrong.

I shouldn't have posted this here. And yes there are anti-abortion activities in all the states, which is shameful, imo.

Thanks for your response

Many years ago I read an article where a director (forgotten who) said when he made a movie about the South he insisted the actors did not effect accents, otherwise he had an unintentional comedy.

That is a wise director. And respectful. Thing is, outsiders can't discern when it's done wrong. So it's best they don't attempt.

Like if I tried to make a movie about Canadians, faking all the accents etc. I'd ruin it lol.

Not to mention the cultural nuances.

Thanks for the reply.
