Becky is Flo-like. Dawn is Vera-like. Cal is a bit Mel-like. Thoughts?

I'm not so sure of that. I must admit that I never saw the TV series 'Alice', but from what I recall of Martin Scorsese's 1974 film 'Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore' there ARE some similarites between the characters in Robert Getchell's script and those created by Adrienne Shelly in 'Waitress'.

yes, we said the same thing. that was about 30 minutes before we took it out of the DVD player and declared it "unwatchable."

I can't expect others to share my virtues, it's good enough for me if they share my vices.
